DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Denise Beitelschmidt, Phd, NETZSCH-Gerätebau GmbH, Germany  Location: ERF Room 1047    Abstract: In both research and industry, materials characterization techniques are key to applicability and reliability. The focus is often on the evaluation of mechanical properties or structural analysis by ionized radiation. However, thermal and thermophysical properties of materials are key to understanding phase formation and transitions, chemical interactions, and expansion behavior. In addition, effects like thermal conductivity provide insight into applicability as an insulation material, and rheology can answer questions about the best asphalt mix.    The presentation provides an overview of the various applications of thermal analysis from both a research and an industrial perspective.
