CME graduate: It is never too late to be a civil engineer
Michelle Calcagno, a recent graduate from civil engineering student at UIC recently wrote a “It is never too late to be a civil engineer” for ASCE’s Member Voices – career by design.
She spent 18 years working in the construction industry, mostly as a concrete laborer, before returning to school to become a structural engineer. She was the driving force behind the first-ever ASCE Legends national program, and recently received a prestigious ASCE SEI Scholarship from ASCE Illinois section.
Michelle started an internship with Thornton Tomasetti and accepted a MS degree offer from University of California, Berkeley for her graduate studies.
