Geoenvironmental Engineering, Sustainability, and Resiliency webinar series fall schedule

Professor Krishna Reddy

Professor Krishna Reddy, of civil, materials, and environmental engineering at UIC, has announced the fall 2024 schedule for the “International Webinar Series on Geoenvironmental Engineering, Sustainability, and Resiliency.

The four-month online webinar series begins Thursday, Sept. 5, with “Methane Emissions from Landfills Differentially Underestimated Worldwide,” and runs until Dec. 12. The webinars are free, but registration is required. Register for all or selected webinars at https://uic.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZcof-ypqToiH91XKSiYLwJ8ja84TX9mnx3d.

During the webinars, well-known speakers from around the world – Singapore, Inda, Australia, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, United States – will share their knowledge and expertise on a wide range of topics related to geoenvironmental engineering (land contamination, waste management, etc.), sustainability, and resiliency, and provide insight on how to deal with those challenges in a sustainable way.

Geoenvironmental engineering is a multidisciplinary field that draws upon a wide range of scientific and engineering principles, including geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, geology, hydrology, geochemistry, microbiology, sustainability, and resilience to address some of the most pressing environmental and infrastructure issues of our time.

The webinars are geared toward young researchers and practicing engineers who are interested in learning more about the latest developments and best practices related to geoenvironmental engineering. The series is also for industry professionals, from various related sectors, who are looking to stay informed about the latest research trends in the field. Climate enthusiasts, environmental scientists, students, and other individuals who are interested in learning about the various challenges related to geoenvironmental engineering and their effects on climate change and sustainability should also register to participate in the webinars.
