Six CME researchers among top 2% in their fields

Six faculty members from civil, materials, and environmental engineering are on the Elsevier list of top 2% in their fields for single year impact in 2023.

Six faculty members from civil, materials, and environmental engineering are on the Elsevier list of top 2% in their fields for single year impact in 2023. Elsevier recently published its “August 2024 data-update for ‘updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators.’”

The faculty members are UIC Distinguished Professor Farhad Ansari, Professor Sybil Derrible, Professor Mohsen Issa, Professor Didem Ozevin, Professor Krishna Reddy, and Professor Lesley Sneed.

In addition, Ansari, Derrible, Mohsen Issa, and Krishna Reddy, are on the list of top 2% in their fields for “career-long productivity.”

Elsevier created a public database of more than 100,000 top scientists that provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator. Separate data is shown for career-long and single-year impact.

Metrics with and without self-citations and ratio of citations to citing papers are given. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.

Career-long data is updated to the end of 2023. The selection is based on the top 100,000 by c-score, which measures the scientific impact of scientists and ranks all scientists from highest to lowest, or a percentile rank of 2% or above.
